Our barrels are purchased from wineries in the Barossa Valley after they are finished bottling. Barrels generally come with red wine residue on the inside and some marking on the outside.
To remove any unwanted markings lightly sand and clean with a high pressure water washer. Once dry use a coat of clear decking oil to help bring out the beautiful timber textures out in your barrel. We also recommend inserting a small screw to make sure the bands don’t move as your barrel ages.
If you’re using your barrel as a planter we suggest drilling 3 x 25mm holes in the base. This is available on request. Fill with premium quality potting mix is such as Debco Pot Power.
