Known as Japanese Acers, Acer palmatum is a large family of attractive shrubs and small trees.
Deciduous and often with finely cut leaves, they often have stunning autumn colours.
They like a fertile but well drained soil in sun or partial shade. Choose a sheltered position as cold winds may damage or kill young leaves.
Deeply lobed dark red leaves. A very attractive slow growing tree. Leaves turn bright red in autumn. Great as a specimen tree.
